A cream is a semi-solid emulsion containing a mixture of water and oil phases stabilized with emulsifiers. It can be either:

  • Oil-in-water (O/W): Light, non-greasy, and easily washable.
  • Water-in-oil (W/O): Heavier, occlusive, and moisturizing.

A gel is a semi-solid system composed of a liquid phase that is thickened with a gelling agent (e.g., carbomer, hydroxyethyl cellulose). Gels are typically transparent or translucent

Both cream and gel dosage forms are vital in dermatology, cosmetology, and pain management for their unique properties and effectiveness in drug delivery
